E6B - Manual vs Electronic - Pilots of America
I have recently removed the E6B from my normal curriculum just because the Laser grade/PSI testing centers one have electronic ones on the testing software. For actually teaching I would recommend getting one of the study softwares that simulate the testing center so you can practice what they actually offer.

Differences Between Manual Flight Computers - Pilots of America
The "new" ASA E6B Circular Flight Computer, released in 2014, is not an E6B at all. It is a copy of the Jeppesen CR. I guess that ASA thought that the name "Circular E6B" would sell better. If you look at instruction manuals from 30 years ago, they stress the wind functions and treat the rest as secondary.

My Navlog spreadsheet for X/C planning - save time...
In the spirit of giving something back to the community, I want to share my Navlog spreadsheet that I created for planning X/C trips during student pilot training. Here are some features: 1) Will do all E6B calculations for WCA, Magnetic Variation, GS, ETE, Fuel Burn based on your...

CFI says I can’t use electronic E6B on written — what??
I used my electronic E6B to create a True Airspeed table at 10°C intervals. That's a great use for an electronic E6B. Taking the written, too, because the precision can help you choose between the FAA's answers. I switched from the E6B to the CR-5 in the late 1980s.

FAA approved electronic E6B and flight bag suggestions
Would like to know which FAA test approved E6B seems to work the best for student pilots. Are they all one in the same? One just as good as the other? Needing to purchase one for 15yr old and figured I'd ask first. Also, any flight bag suggestions for her? As always, flying on a budget and...

E6b aviation calculator vs sportys e6b | Pilots of America
An E6B, yes, an E6B APP, not so much. Crap, that's what I get for sneaking a peak. Nope, not for the written, then. My DPE let me use whatever means I would use in the real world to do calculations and such. So, Foreflight and my E6B app (MyE6B is the app) were fair game.

TAS from performance chart or E6B? - Pilots of America
The OP was confused thinking that the E6B might be used to correct the TAS from the performance chart. I was telling him what the TAS function of the E6B does--It takes CAS, temperature, and pressure altitude and calculates TAS. He didn't ask how to calculate his ground speed inflight or any of the other things you interjected.

DENSITY ALTITUDE CALCULATIONS FOR FAA TEST - Pilots of America
I am studying for FAA written, My question is regarding density altitude calculations long-hand. I know I can use e6b BUT my learning style is to understand process longhand first. Given numbers to determine densisty altitude (DA) 1. altimer setting = 30.35 2. runway temp in faherenheit = +25...

E6B in PPL written exam - Pilots of America
I was given a manual ASA E6-B and it has Special Equipment Suffix, Flight Plan Format, and GMT conversion written on the plate. I was wondering for when I go to take my written exam if they'll take it away from me because of what's written on it. Thanks!

Which E6B to Buy - Pilots of America
I have an old Sporty's electronic E6B flight computer. By old, I mean that I used it when I took my written for the private at least 25 years ago. I remember at the time is was clunky, not intuitive, and difficult to use. Fast forward to today, and I'm studying for my IFR written. When I began...
