After what has likely felt like the three longest weeks in recorded history, Ole Miss finally gets to play a football game Saturday. The Rebels (11-1) last took the field on Nov. 28 in Starkville, a 38-19 Egg Bowl victory that clinched the program’s first 11-win regular season.

Before his career could get off the ground, Pete Golding’s first boss wanted him gone. Fired. Out. Ron Roberts, then Delta State’s defensive coordinator, had seen plenty of Golding. He was a four-year starter at safety for the Statesmen and,
